FORMER Cardiff City defender Gavin Rae, released in the summer before the arrival of Malky Mackey was struggling to find a club although there was some interest no deals materialized.
He was allow to train with Cardiff to keep is fitness up and at one point there was talk of him heading over to Australia in the search for football.
It was not until October he fixed himself up with club when he signed a short-term deal until January with his former club Dundee. He joined former Cardiff defender Rhys Weston who is with the Scottish club.
He is a wanted man north of the border now with Hibernian and Aberdeen linked to the midfielder. The Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon “I watched Gavin play in Dundee’s Scottish Cup replay [against Kilmarnock] and he did quite well.
“There are players we are still talking to, and he is one who fits the bill in relation to experience and his know-how and his knowledge of the league.”
However, the 34-year-old is understood to have a gentlemen’s agreement allowing him to leave Dens Park if he receives an offer from elsewhere.
Aberdeen boss Craig Brown tried to sign Rea in the summer according to the rumour mill, but the local Scottish press are reported Brown he is ready to launch a bid to sign Dundee’s Gavin Rae.
