Some quick updates

I have been unable to update my blog owing to issue with Blogger but it is now fixed and he is a miss mash of new stories that has broken while my blog has been down.

Cardiff City could be checking out Coventry City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson according to the Rumour Mill. Another player out of contract after rejecting a new offer for is club will see him free tomorrow allow Coventry boss Andy Thorn.

Cardiff City target David Goodwillie has been accused of assault dating back to an incident in Glasgow city centre back in 3 November 2010. The case will continue until next month.

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay has named is new backroom line-up ahead of pre-season that starts tomorrow. They are David Kerslake, Richard Collinge and Joe McBride all colleagues of Mackay for his time at Watford.
  • Assistant manager will be David Kerslake who was first team coach at Watford.
  • Joe McBride youth team coach at Vicarage Road will become first team coach.
  • Richard Collinge will be the new head of performance is post at Watford was Head of Medical.

Cardiff City have agreed a compensation package with Watford.

Taylor still keeping everyone waiting

Its decision time for Cardiff City transfer target Andrew Taylor has he will be holding talks with is current club Middlesbrough before putting an end to the tug-of-war for his services. Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray want to keep him while Cardiff City and Bristol City want him.

A decision by later today or maybe tomorrow would be nice when he will be officially a free agent hopefully only free until he signs for City boss Malky Mackay. Taylor has visited both Cardiff and Bristol City and is rumoured to have been impressed with the Cardiff set-up and he already knows the ability of the manager spent part of last season on loan at is previous club Watford.

Taylor has been on Mackay's radar for some time he wanted to sign him while he was at Watford and if he was still manager at the London club he would still be waiting on a phone call today probably.

With pre-season about to start in earnest, the squad is woefully short on the player's front and backroom staff. So far, Cardiff has had one summer signing Craig Conway and with the interest in Taylor and are chasing striker David Goodwillie. Cardiff’s first pre-season friendly on the 12 July against Gibraltar in Spain and Charlton a few days later again in Spain. The club has been very quiet about the two fixtures an announced was made on the Gibraltar and Charlton websites.

Dundee Utd turn down bid for Goodwillie

Rangers made a bid for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie today only for it to be turned down. Not long after the news breaking there was a statement for United saying,
"We can confirm we have received a bid from Rangers for David Goodwillie.
"The bid has been rejected because it does not meet our valuation."
That the weekend Rangers owner Craig Whyte described the £2 million pounds price tag for Goodwillie as ‘too steep’. No figure has been mention, but must have been below the asking price wanted for the striker and will now lay a benchmark for Cardiff City if they are truly interested in signing him. Interested parties are going to have to match the asking price or better it if it turns into an auction.
Goodwillie took part in Dundee United second pre-season friendly in Ireland against Bohemian last night the game end all square at 1-1 a bit risky with a possible £2 million transfer on head.

One becomes three - Whittingham

If you believe newspaper rumours, Cardiff City midfielder Peter Whittingham is becoming the hot property of the Championship now. Yesterday linked to Portsmouth with a fee of £1.5 million muted now other club are interested according to the press.

Today the Rumour Mill as Leicester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has jumping in to try and steal Portsmouth thunder with a valuation closer to £2 million. Newly promoted Premiership club Norwich City are keeping an eye on the situation regarding the midfielder.

Will Bellamy return

Manchester City has hired John Williams former supremo at Blackburn Rovers reported in the national press. Hired according to press to help clear out the unwanted high earners at City one of those being Craig Bellamy. They have a round a dozen players they want to clear of the wage bill on wages that could bale Greece out for their finance problems.

With a year left on his Manchester City contract worth nearly £4 million to the Bellamy that the moment he will be sitting out next season in the reserve if he can get a game. They would like a £4 million transfer fee for their striker with Celtic, Stoke and Everton are rumoured to be interested in signing him.

Bellamy enjoyed his time on loan at Cardiff last season was well as the football it also brought him some quality family life. He was not happy about the outcome at the end and has stated on numerous occasion his wish to return to Cardiff for next season. He is due to return for Sierra Leone where he has been working with the youngest at his Craig Bellamy Foundation. Next week he plans to meet with officials from Manchester City to discuss his future where he will ask to be allowed to walk away free. He would probably have to some kind of deal with his wages if they were agreeable with that.

It would be down to manager Malky Mackay if he was to return to Cardiff and he would have to take a massive cut in wages to rejoin the club. Even if he were, will to take the cut in wages, would he fit into Mackay’s plans?

Offer for Whittingham

Cardiff City are to be tested on their willingness to keep Midfielder Peter Whittingham has Portsmouth are rumoured to be linked with a £1.5million bid to take him to the Cardiff Championship rivals.

Being coach and then boss at Watford City new man in the dugout Malky Mackay knows all about the ability of Whittingham and will have an idea if he fits into his style of play. The bid will more or likely to be turned down Mackay is looking to build a team not break one up and Cardiff don't need to sell he has two-years left on his present contract.

With ex-boss, Dave Jones a goner it will be time for the players left to empress the new boss and his new backroom staff when they have signed up. Two players who will be keen to show their metal for the new season will be Anthony Gerrard and Solomon Taiwo both loaned out by Jones for a season.

Gerrard was at Hull City and ended up voted players of the season by Hull fans after an impressive loan period. Chances were that Jones would have given Gerrard a chance this season his form at Hull surely deserved that. Taiwo went back to the club Cardiff paid £250,000 (with add-ons) for him Dagenham & Redbridge where he made a low-key return. Not many Cardiff fans would have expected Taiwo not to be released by Dave Jones if he was still with the club.

Fortunes mixed Down Under

South Cardiff found Weston Workers too hard to beat on their travels Sunday and the final score was 3-1 for their troubles. Until this fixture, Cardiff had beaten their hosts three times this season. They stay fifth, but after Lake Macquarie winning, they are now four points behind the fourth place club and will need a late charge for a finals position end to the season.

Southy also made a new signing last week with after experienced right-side defender Chris Gazzard who had a falling out with is previous club Hamilton Olympic. They are away again next weekend to West Wallsend and need all the points to get their season back on track.

It was a 5-1 victory over Mayfield on their travels for Cardiff City FC, and they go back at the top of the table. With Swansea beating University previous leaders 3-0, and Cooks Hill United lost 2-1 dropping to third behind University with Cardiff now two pints clear of both.

A fans comment

5-1 well what a game two pens in the 1st 10 give Cardiff 2-0 lead Mayfield scored to make it 2-1 2-1(credit) but that was as close as it got as Cardiff dominated the game. The Tangerine ran away and won 5-1 in the end and to be honest it could have 10+, Cardiff missing a least 4 open goals(and when I say open I mean open, no keeper, no defenders) and numerous other chances butchered and I could go on all day, but great result in the end, pity it wasn't 9 points.

Next weekend round 11 game for the Tigers had a home at their Cardiff No2 Oval ground against Morisset

Backroom reshuffle for Mackay

Its gardening duties for some of the Cardiff City backroom staff has new boss Malky Mackay plans. Mackay wants his own number two and in other key posts to re-fluxes his training ideas and way of play. It means assistant boss Terry Burton and first-team coach Paul Wilkinson on paid leave and free to find new club.

The Cardiff manager met the backroom staff at Cardiff yesterday, but had planned to make changes on taking the job anyway. If his plans are to restructure is backroom staff we will have to see if any others leave as well. He had earmarked his assistant at Watford Sean Dyche to join him at Cardiff, but Watford moved quickly to offer him the manager's job.

Mackay and Cardiff City have a busy time ahead before pre-season training kick-off as well as the ongoing search for new players there is now the issues of coaching staff to find.

Will Taylor be the next signing

As well has the possible dealings with David Goodwillie Cardiff are also believed to be having ongoing talks with Middlesbrough defender Andrew Taylor.

With his contract with the Northeast club runs out in a matter of days and he does not look likely to sign the new one on offer from Middlesbrough. Manager Tony Mowbray looks resigned to losing Taylor who has been a target of the Cardiff boss Malky Mackay for a while now. Mowbray said:
"I'm pretty sure there will have been conversations between Andrew and Cardiff. I know Malky very, very well and I'm sure as soon as he got that job he was on the phone.
"The boy's got some decisions to make. But I think Cardiff are a different financial club to us, they could probably match if not better what we could offer financially."

He is rumoured to have come down to the area for talks and will also be talking with Bristol City while in the area they are also reported to have him in their sight. The defender has been on the radar of the new Cardiff boss Mackay since his time at Watford. Taylor spent the first half of last season on loan at Watford and Mackay wanted to make it a permanent deal, but the Watford board could not finance a deal and he returned to Middlesbrough. The fact that player and manager know one another so well could hopefully help the Bluebirds put off the deal.

Race for Goodwillie hots up

The battle for the signature of Dundee United striker David Goodwillie could hot up this week and hopefully a decision will be made will he sign for the Bluebirds or not. It looks like the main competition for the Scottish striker will come for the other side of the Bristol Channel with Championship rivals Bristol City along relegated Blackpool and Nottingham Forest. United manager Peter Houston said,
"Nothing has really changed as regards David's situation other than the chairman has been speaking to a couple of clubs.
"However, no agreement has been reached with anyone at the moment and he remains here with us."
Dundee United wants £2 million for their top goal scorer a figure that has scare off SPL club Rangers. Dundee turned down to offers on Friday one of which was rumoured to be from Cardiff it looks like it will take £2 million or more to prize him away from United. In the quest to sign him Cardiff have is teammate Craig Conway who recently signed for the Welsh also former Cardiff City player Willo Flood recommend the Bluebirds to him saying,
“If he does go to the Welsh club, then it would be an ideal place for him”
"If Cardiff agrees a fee for him he should seriously consider it. They are a great club with good staff and they will look after him."
Former Scotland star Pat Nevin believes Goodwillie would be a fine catch for Cardiff City boss Malky Mackey and said:
“Conway will be the appetiser, Goodwillie will be the main course.
“He really is a talent.
“He has a great eye for a goal. He will always score goals and makes them himself as well.
“There are one or two weaknesses to his game, which you always find with these very, very talented individuals.
“He’s not fast – he’s not lightning, however, he does make up for that with match-intelligence.”
Owing to Dundee United having a Europa League game in just over two weeks time they have started pre-season and kick-off with a 2-1 friendly victory at Drogheda United. Cardiff target Goodwillie scored one of the goals. The Cardiff City stadium and the training facilities at the Vale are far beyond any on offer from other interested party.

Have Cardiff up the chase for Goodwillie

Cardiff City had competition if they are in the race for Dundee United striker David Goodwillie as a source at the Scottish club as revealed two offers have come in for the striker yesterday. One of them is rumoured to be from Cardiff City, the SPL club turned it down.
A club spokesman told BBC Scotland:
"No-one has met our valuation yet, but that doesn't stop people putting offers in. We've had two today. It's ongoing."
Neither of the offers where made by Rangers who look to be price out of the race. The Rangers owner Craig Whyte believes £2 million is too high price for the striker. New Cardiff City boss Malky Mackey ready successfully raid Dundee United and snatched midfielder Craig Rangers from under the nose of Rangers who also want to sign him.

Dundee United have set a fee of £2 million for their player who signed one-year extension on his contract that will keep in Tannadice until 2013 back in March. They turn down two offers in January with failed to reach their asking price and are in no hurry to sell, but United manager Peter Houston would dearly love some extra funds to bolster his squad.
"I'm caught between a rock and a hard place with Goody," he told BBC Scotland.
"If he goes, it'll allow me to strengthen the team, but I'd be foolish to want rid of him. He scores between 15 and 20 goals a season.
"But we're a provincial club and, if somebody offers the right money for him, he'll be off.
"Rangers enquired about what his valuation was. The chairman told them what that is and I think Rangers felt it was a bit too much for them."

Latest transfer gossip - 25 June 11

It is a quite Saturday on the Rumour Mill for Cardiff City, only one player linked with the Bluebirds and he is West Brom midfielder Giles Barnes. Reports are suggesting Nottingham Forest is a jump ahead has offered him a contract. West Brom released Barnes in May.

A bit of old news, Cardiff City has been linked to Middlesbrough's Andrew Taylor who are keen to keep him, but he will soon be out of contract and the Northeast club could only offer him a new one with reduced terms. That has singled a number of clubs to seek his signature one of, which is rumoured to be Cardiff, but now Bristol City are the latest club joined the chase for the defender come midfielder .

I have reported on this blog before Taylor was on loan a Watford last season until just after Christmas under new City boss Malky Mackey and has been a target ever since.

FAW beneath contempt

Daily Mail columnist Des Kelly has used his column to have pop at the FAW on their stance on an Olympics Team GB squad. He talks about if they are worried about their ‘national identity’ maybe Cardiff City could be playing in the wrong league.
As for the Football Association of Wales, they are beneath contempt. This gaggle of mediocrities want Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey to turn their backs on the GB team because of its perceived 'Englishness'.
This, of course, is the same FAW happily sending Swansea City of Wales to play in the English Premier League this season.
If the Welsh FA were that concerned about their 'national identity', Cardiff City and Swansea would be looking at very different fixture lists for the coming campaign. But it seems hypocrisy has no respect for national borders.
Should anyone hear that an FAW official is about to cross the Severn Bridge to take a complimentary seat at Old Trafford, Anfield or the Emirates stadium this season, can I ask that they let me know so I can remind the culprit of how their collusion with the English game might be 'jeopardising the existence of the FA of Wales in the eyes of FIFA'.

City chasing Goodwillie

Cardiff City are looking to add a new striker to their depleted strike force with Dundee United striker David Goodwillie rumoured to be the target. BBC Scotland is reporting a spokesman at the Scottish club saying after an initial enquiry Cardiff have now entered full discussions with a view to him signing with the club.

Rangers have also been interest in Goodwillie, but they have not willing to pay the £2 million asking price. The report suggests that Cardiff could have competition from a Premiership club and there is interest from Championship rivals of the Bluebirds. In January there were two offers made and were turned down for the striker after failing to reach their asking price.

Dundee United manager Peter Houston said about the possibility of losing his top scorer,

"I'm caught between a rock and a hard place with Goody.
"If he goes, it'll allow me to strengthen the team, but I'd be foolish to want rid of him. He scores between 15 and 20 goals a season.
"But we're a provincial club and, if somebody offers the right money for him, he'll be off.
"Rangers enquired about what his valuation was. The chairman told them what that is and I think Rangers felt it was a bit too much for them.
"So far, there has been no bid and no money on the table from them.
"I think the feeling from whoever spoke to the chairman was 'it's a bit too rich for us'."
The young Scottish international striker through youth levels with Scotland and made his full international cap last season. Could he be on is way to Cardiff will have to wait and see if comes off it will be Cardiff 2-0 Rangers.

Cardiff City (Podcast) #MALKAYSIA

Listen the the great podcast 'View from the Ninian' from Cardiff City from Cardiff City fans Adam and Ben. Some fruity language at times but great chat about Cardiff City with some catchy jingles.

Second game in Spain for the Bluebirds

Cardiff City has a friendly with Gibraltar 12 July, but it will not be on the rock itself, but in Jerez (Spain). Jerez is the home to Xerez Club Deportivo who plays in Spain's Segunda División and a possible venue could be Estadio Municipal de Chapín with a 22,000 capacity.

Cardiff will be up against Gibraltar's national squad although has been on announced officially by Cardiff City it is on the Gibraltar FA website. The game will be a 7:30pm kick-off the game is a few days before they face Division One side Charlton in Seville, Spain.

Gibraltar will be getting a taste of Welsh Football on Saturday when the face Ynys Mons (The Isle of Anglesey) in the Island Games on the Isle of Wight at Newport FC is ground.

Channel Islanders join mainland League

Regular readers of my Blog will know of my interest in the quirkiness of non-league-football. I have recently taken an interest in Guernsey F.C. a football club located in Guernsey, Channel Islands and their quest to join the English non-league pyramid system.

Well Guernsey kick-off their season on the mainland in the Combined Counties Football League, Division One after being accepted to join at the League's AGM on 21 June. They walked the vote with 29 voting for them to join while only seven against against the proposal.

They (Guernsey FC) will incur substance cost with this venture and will be taking a step into the unknown besides their own running cost there are those the cost of the visiting teams to Guernsey. How that will work has been reports as - they will pay the travelling cost of a squad of 22, including players and manager and staff and hotel accommodation for one night and to keep the cost of the luggage down they will also provide a kit if the visitors desired plus balls and other training equipment.

Guernsey based betting company Sportingbet is sponsoring them to the tune of £750,000 per season a sum unheard of at this level of football. Most of the money will be soaked up with all the travelling and hotel cost and are expecting to play 4+ games with league and cup games. Home games scheduled to be played that the Footes Lane Stadium (probably) with attendances for games forecast to be anything from 300-1000 for home games, maybe 15 or 20 travelling to away games. There is also the options to play at another unnamed ground if the Footes Lane Stadium unavailable.

It the channel Islanders were to make the Football league it would become the long away in the league if they were to play Newcastle it would be 467 miles road and ferry trip a round trip of just over 900 miles. It could still happen when they enter the FA Cup in a few years time.

North West Counties League has found itself inundated with teams from outside England looking to join the English set-up. To date, its reported four Welsh teams have made enquiries about joining the league all believe to be from North Wales. There as also been interest from the Isle of Man with an unnamed team looking for entry and the latest is the league were contacted by unknown representative from a Northern Irish Belfast team also interested in joining the league. The interested party from Northern Ireland like Guernsey F.C. are rumoured to planning to put together a financial package to help individual clubs with travelling expenses to Belfast.

For this to happen any club would need permission from their own National Association then the FA would have to agree. FA have agreed with the FA of Wales that neither association would sanction any new applications from Welsh clubs to cross the border nor is it likely the Northern Ireland Association would feel the same as the Welsh.

Conway signs

Graig Conway is officially a Bluebirds and the first signing of new manager of Malky Mackey. He will be the first of many new faces expected through the door at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Cardiff loosly linked to Ched Evans

Cardiff City have been linked with Welsh international and Sheffield United striker Ched Evans according to the Sheffield Star newspaper. If not the first time Cardiff City and the player have been linked together any time Cardiff are rumoured to be looking for striker, his name pops up.

He joined United for Manchester City in a £3m deal in July 2009 and as a year left on his contract. The paper believes Cardiff have yet to make any kind of contact regarding the player, but there is interest. Cardiff are in desperate need of strengthen there forward with only two strikers on the books at the moment, Jon Parkin and Nathaniel Jarvis. Jarvis is still to make his first team debut, but had a loan spell with Southend United playing six games.

Relegated Sheffield club want to off load Evans with the playing himself happy to make a quick return to the Championship. There are a number of clubs keep an eye on the situation Middlesbrough taking a keen interest in the striker.

Off the field the player hit the headlines a week or so ago when he was quizzed over an alleged sex attack and was released on police bail.

Mackey wanted his Watford coach Dyche to join him

The present Cardiff City Assistant manager/coach Terry Burton must be wondering if he has a future at Cardiff City when the new boss Malky Mackey wanted his coach assistant Sean Dyche to join him from Watford.

Talking to The Watford Observer after being named the new Watford manager Dyche said:
"Malky wanted me to go with him [to Cardiff] and there was a window between when Malky took the job and then a window when they came back and spoke to me.
"Fortunately for me, as it has turned out, Laurence Bassini, the owner, got it contact with me and said "look, why do you want to go? Why don't you at least talk to us?"

So is Burton's job safe or will Mackey still want to bring in his own man. The Cardiff City boss is expected home from is holiday tomorrow and maybe things will become much clearer.

Phil Dwyer autobiography out Sept/Oct

I have been looking for a new Cardiff City related book to read and I nearly wet my pants on seeing Mr. Cardiff City Phil Dwyer would be releasing his autobiography. It must surely be necessary read and for anyone interested in the history of Cardiff City. WH Smith have a released of 17th Oct 2011 the best early deal I have found is with the Book Depository who are offering 25% off the £16.99 RRP price. Defender Dwyer holds the record for the most games play 471 with 41 games which will never be beaten in today's football. He nearly die for club and was attacked on the pitch by an irate Millwall fan. In the Daily Mirror a number of years ago he said about the incident in his words,

"We'd gone to Millwall in the late 70s. I remember the ball came across and I made sure their keeper Nicky Johns was not going to get it - I laid him out cold.
"It was at the Millwall end and they were calling for my blood. I thought I'd better play dead on the ground, but as I got up this big skinhead came charging towards me.
"He took an almighty swing, but he only caught me on the side of the head. I swear if he had connected I'd still be in orbit now!"

He is one of my football heroes at Cardiff City and he gave me one of those never to forget moments that all fans have at Derby in 83/84. We had not won away from home and by December fans where down hearted. The previous fixture before Christmas we were trounced 5-2 at Sheffield Wednesday with just over a 100 Cardiff city fans on the terrace and a few more in the stand. Next a home game against a dying Swansea relegated from the First Division (Premiership) and going into the game bottom of the table and in free-fall. It was a Boxing Day 3-2 victory to see them on their way to relegation.

The next day it was a trip Derby a point ahead of us in 15in the league table, but our dismal away record was against us, but there was a good turnout of fans for the trip. Has I remember it the game was at 2-2 and up stepped big Phil Dwyer got the third with Cardiff fans going crazy with Dwyer on the fence egging them on. Cardiff fans left the ground with the air full of the chant 'jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way oh what fun it is to see City win away.'

I honestly cannot with for the book to come out

The author said on the Cardiff City Forum
The book covers all of Phil's highs and lows playing for his boyhood team, from breaking into the team under Jimmy Scoular, playing in the promotion winning team of Alston and Evans, the antics of Robin Friday, almost dying on the pitch against Gillingham, his call up for Wales, being released and resigned by Len Ashurst, and the dark days under Alan Durban. The book also covers his time working as a police officer and of course how his career came to an end after being arrested for drink driving whilst in a police car!

Bargain deal for the skinny male

Can you spot the difference? Well ones women football top the other is an adult male. The pictures looked like they were modelled by a man and it also looks like the same picture but there is a difference in price.

I know they are not too many slender male Cardiff City fans about, but the women’s top goes up to a size 18. Maybe worth a pop to save some money I am not sure if the women top has any special built inserts like breast pads or extra material around the chest area. Making the full kit (short sleeved) £5 cheaper does anyone buy the full kit.

Craig Conway a Bluebird

Dundee United midfielder Craig Conway as chosen to sign for Cardiff City over joining Rangers and will be new manager's Malky Mackey first signing according to BBC Scotland. Conway has been a long-term target of Mackey from is Watford days, but they did not have the finance clog to bring off the deal. Conway, 26, told BBC Scotland,
"I was really impressed by [Cardiff manager] Malky Mackay when I met him when he was manager at Watford".

The Bluebirds chief executive Gethin Jenkins will finalise deal as manager Mackey is on holiday until the end of the week. Rangers could not match the Bluebirds in the way of personal terms for the player who will be travelling down to Wales to take a medical and finalise a move. The midfielder is out of contract with is SPL club and as well as beating off Rangers there were also a number of other English based club interested in him.

A return for Earnshaw?

A campaign sprouting on the social network by Cardiff City fans to support a return of fans favourite Rob Earnshaw back to Cardiff  has seen the player talk to South Wales Echo. Simply put he would love to come back to Cardiff City and would never rule out a return.

He is one of many players out of contract at the end of the month and I am sure there would be a number of clubs who would be interested in having him in there squad. I have never really been a fan of players or manager coming back to their original clubs. Take the last two players to return to Cardiff after spells away Michael Chopra and Jason Koumas both I would say failed to hit the heights of form they had the first time around.

He (Earnshaw) only scored nine league goals last season from 27 starts plus nine appearances from the bench. Mackey will know the ins and outs of Earnshaw being a coach and manager at Watford he would have had numerous reports on him. We will have to see if Mackey wants him or feels he would fit into his system of play. Someone once told me Earnshaw was a one trick pony and easy to read by the opposition not sure what he meant or if he meant in past or now, but I think he would be better off somewhere anywhere, but Cardiff.

Speaking to the paper Earnshaw said:
“People how close I am to the club and its supporters.
“I have a lot of fantastic memories at Cardiff and once I return from my holidays next week I will sit down with my agent and see what the best step forward is for me and my family, but I would not rule out rejoining Cardiff.
“I have several offers on the table and I do not want to put any more pressure on the new manager (Malky Mackey) as he’s just been in the job for a few days, but I loved it at City when I was there. If there was a formal offer on the table when I get back, who knows it could be a goer.
“I’m aware of the whispers back home linking me with Cardiff and I’m Flattered.
“But at this moment in time that is all they are, but once I speak to my agent I’m sure things will start moving very quickly one way or another.”

Another day and another player linked

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackey and Cardiff City is linked to Liverpool young defender Danny Wilson according to some press and internet outlets. He joined Liverpool from Rangers in a £2 million transfer and a three year contract with two years left. His old club Rangers would like to take him on a season long loan deal where he started his career having come through their youth system.

The 19-year-old joined Liverpool in July last year, but made no impact on the first team, but for his debut in the 3-1 defeat at West Ham and the only other game he featured in saw him come off the bench in another defeat 2-1 at West Brom. Like most players at the fringes of the first team, he made most of his appearances in Europe and Cup games. He played five Europa League games plus a Carling Cup fixture he also made his senior international debut.

That makes it for rumours since Mackey signed up as manager with no official comment and there is unlike to be. The City boss is still on holiday until the end of the week so has yet to take up residency at his office at the Vale training ground. This weekend and next week, hopefully we will see things heat up on the player's front, as the start of pre-season training is not to far-off.

West Ham games now live on the BBC

It was always on the card the possibility Cardiff City first fixture against West Ham could be switched, it has has moved to the Sunday 7 August kick-off to accommodate TV coverage has the BBC have picked up the game.

The game being live on TV should not alter the demand from the Cardiff City fans, which will be a sell-out for the travelling Bluebirds. Cardiff fans around the world will be able to enjoy the opening game of the season.

Meanwhile Down Under the other Cardiff's

Has things just start to hot up at Cardiff City meanwhile Down Under our namesakes South Cardiff and Cardiff City FC are back in action after last weekend’s washout. Cardiff are back into winning ways after two defeats.

South Cardiff were away to Hamilton Olympic and won 3-2 there win and the defeat Lake Macquarie means Cardiff move within a point of Lake who currently occupy the all important fourth spot. Cardiff drop from top of the league table to third over the last few weeks.

Hamilton Olympic wasted a golden opportunity to move into second place when they gave up a 2-0 lead to go down 3-2 to South Cardiff at Darling St Oval.
John Majurovski scored a brace to steer Olympic to a 2-1 lead at the break. But the match turned early in the second half when Harry James, returning from suspension, was given his second yellow card.
‘‘That cost us the game,’’ Olympic coach Mick Bolch said.

Next week end they have a tough encounter with second place Weston Workers who they recently beat in the Solo Cup, the game ended 0-0 with Cardiff going on to win 5-4 on penalties.

The South Cardiff U23 were battered 5-0 while the U19 won 5-2.

Cardiff City FC from the Northern NSW Zone Premier League could only manage a 1-1 draw home against Dudley Redhead. They have dropped off top spot in the league over the last few games and are now third. Next weekend Cardiff travel Mayfield who are presently next to bottom in the league who had had their game is weekend at Mayfield Park postponed

The Cardiff City FC reserves and the U23 both won 2-1 and 3-2 respectively.

Bellamy after free transfer

Cardiff bound for another
season?
Craig Bellamy wants Manchester City to grant him a free transfer so he could rejoin Cardiff City. The Manchester club wanting a £4 million transfer fee for the Welshman perhaps out of the reach of Cardiff City to pay from one player.

A number of Premiership clubs have expressed an interest in signing Bellamy in the past he is only interested in playing for Manchester City or Cardiff City. Is options with the Premier League club is well and truly dead and he will not be part of 25 squad Manchester City have to name before the start of the new season if he was to stay. His only other option is to move away and he wants to come to Cardiff.

The new Cardiff City boss Malky Mackey will have to wait and see what happens as Bellamy is still under contract to Manchester City and just cannot talk to him and must wait and see how the story unfolds. Does Mackey want him? He talked about is passion and desire so it will be a case of wait and see. There is of course his wages, which would be an obstacle to any interested teams.

Cardiff linked to Dundee United winger

Another player along with the ones already mention on this blog is being linked with Cardiff City he is Scottish international and Dundee United winger Craig Conway. Cardiff City manager Malky Mackey Cardiff has competition for his signature with SPL club Rangers reported to have already talked to Conway's agent. They are a host of Championship club who would also like to add him to their squads.

In fact, Cardiff City ex-boss Dave Jones was rumoured to be interested in signing him back in January. A suggested transfer fee of £200,000 plus add-ons, but it must have just been paper talk it was never followed up.

He is out of contract with his present club Dundee United so is available free so no transfer fee to pay. He could decide to stay in Scotland or cross the border and play Championship football, a league ten times more competitive than the SPL.

Manager with passion

It has not happened in awhile a Cardiff City manager talking to the local press or then in the press room, but today the South Wales is carrying an interesting interview with the new Cardiff City boss Malky Mackey.

Mackey see the most important issue in front of him is the squad and new players to add to it. The paper has mentioned a figure of £5 million much less than the £12 million quoted previously. Then, on Talksport radio a journalist from the same paper 'South Wales Echo' Mark Bloom is talking about £12 to £15 million.

Prioity must be up front, there are only two strikers in the squad one of those is a first-year-professional and we are just over 27 days until the first pre-season friendly against Charlton in Spain. What will he make of his squad some of whom he has not seen play for the club? Must he make do with what he has and add to them? He only has 16out fielders in his squad and one of his strikers has yet to make is debut for the club and he joined by goalkeeper Jordan Santigo, defenders Alex Evans and Jonathan Meades along with midfielder Ibrahim Farah all turn professional for the upcoming season.
Then you have midfielder Aaron Wildig who has only made a handful of appearances off the bench. He spent time out on loan last season to SPL club Hamilton for a few months until the end of last season. You also have midfielder Solomon Taiwo signed two seasons ago in his first season he made two starts and came off the bench eight times. Last season he spent the season back with club Cardiff had ordinary sign him from on a season loan.

You could the guarantee one question at the top of any journalist mind OK Alan Shearer and the other Craig Bellamy. Mackey did not say no and did not see yes about him making a return, but like he said he is a Manchester City player and his future is down to them. The Cardiff manager knows Bellamy, as they were teammate's way back when at Norwich. They played together for a season, but the following year Bellamy missed most of the season (1999/2000) with a knee injury making it back for a few games at the end of the season. In the summer, Norwich sold him to Coventry City for a sum of £6.5 million.

Talk about is time with Bellamy he said,

“He’s someone I’ve kept in touch with throughout my career after coming across him at various times. He’s someone I know very well and someone I know did well for this football club last year.
“But he was here on loan and he is contracted to Manchester City, so it would be wrong to talk too much about him.
“But we all know he is a local boy and he is someone in this division who is one of those X-Factor players.
“I don’t know if Craig will want to come because I kicked lumps out him for most of my time at Norwich.”

Fans and pundits alike have been waxing lyrical over his style of football as the Echo said,' Mackay's team were renowned for playing attractive, passing football'. We from time to time seen City use the passing game, but far too often the game would switch to route one football with Jay Bothroyd the target. The last two seasons Cardiff were just too predicable going forward it made the fans very frustrated which then give the whole stadiums atmosphere turn negative.

It all played into the hands of the opposition the atmosphere the tactics, but Dave Jones gave us the best years seen by Cardiff fans in donkey's years. Why Jones could not take us a few more steps to the top of the mountain I don't know maybe Mackey can. He will not fail for the lack of support fans have been in the whole have been positive on is arrival he looked impressive at the press conference. Fans realise he is on a rebuild job so will cut him some slack keep Cardiff in the Championship is of paramount importance, but promotion would be great as for the play-off, does anyone want to go there again however, if it has to be so be it.

City linked to Andrew Taylor

Only in the job under 24 hours and another player is being linked with Cardiff City, the footy agents must know that Cardiff are back in business. Middlesbrough midfielder/defender Andrew Taylor a player the new Bluebirds boss Malky Mackey was interested in while he was at Watford.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Watford and played in Watford's 4-1 thrashing of the Bluebirds picking up a yellow card.

Mackey was desperate to keep the player according to reports while at Watford, but the player himself asked to return to the Teesside club. He can play left defence or midfield on his return to Middlesbrough when straight back into the first team. He is a free agent at the end of the month, but Middlesbrough has been hopefully he would sign a new contract on offer. Now Mackey is with at Cardiff with a bit more financial influence than the London club the North-East club is concerned there could be renewed interest in Taylor

Cardiff linked with Arsenal player

What a day for a Cardiff City fan the day started with the fixtures and we kick off with an away to West Ham. Not long after the club announced the shirt sponsor for next season ‘Malaysia’ an hour later the home kit for next season was unveiled with a positive response from most of the fans. The day ended with the new manager being wheel out in front of the press and looking every much the part of manager.

We have our first player coming in rumour after weeks about players leaving the club, yes Cardiff City are back. The Arsenal website Young Guns are linking Emmanuel Frimpong with a loan deal with the Bluebirds. The young midfield has been out injury for almost a year after suffering critical knee ligament damage but is now looking forward to pre-season training. He has been working on his fitness since the end of the season and expects to be at peak fitness for pre-season.

He is unlikely to figure in the first-team or make the clubs squad 25 so a loan deal and the option of first team football Cardiff had another young Arsenal player Jay Emmanuel Thomas on a season loan last season. In addition, Aaron Ramsey had a short loan back at his old club. Division One club Charlton Athletic are also interested in the player according to the same report.

Speaking the 19-year-old said:

“It was a difficult season for me with the injury and the comeback, but I think I will need to look elsewhere if the current situation continues. There have been talks about Cardiff and Charlton Athletic, but I know I can be a regular for Arsenal if I stay clear of injury.
“If Mr Wenger comes to me this pre-season and says ‘Emmanuel I want to give you another opportunity’ then I have to show him I can do what I did this season, but if he doesn’t, then obviously my time at Arsenal doesn’t look good.”

Malky the Bluebird

Only at Cardiff City, you tell the world a press conference will take place at 3pm and all you see is an empty table and chairs and a room full of press. The poor guy from Sky Sports News must have been sick of saying, "Any moment now we will be going across to Cardiff a here from new manager Malky Mackey" The delay was explained by a club official has a fax being held up at Watford's end, though it's nothing malicious, yet I bet. After 1hour 40 minutes, the man himself walks into the conference room, we have a manager.

He said all the right things during the press conference oozing confidence about ability said he moved to a bigger club and was looking to be fighting it out at the top end of the table. He also praised the Cardiff fans stating he has seen they passion.

Mackay said: "I see a club with massive ambition, an infrastructure that is exciting, a beautiful stadium, great training facilities and a club that wants to go places.

"I know the division and I know the type of players we want.
"Everyone goes into the race to win it and we will be one of the clubs trying to win it.
"Cardiff are a team that have done very well over the last few years. Two play-offs and a Wembley final appearance can't be criticised.
"It's well documented the finances we've been working under at Watford. Watford over the last couple of years have fought hard under the restrictions. But coming here gives me an opportunity to challenge at the top of the table."

Watching the press conference, Malky Mackey looks hard as nails. I hear Jon Parkin as changed is nickname for ‘The Beast’ to ‘Poodle’. You bet none of his players goes out on the piss in the early hours of the morning before an important match unless he is there.

Watford owner, Laurence Bassini, on the Watford's website said,

"Cardiff City has now confirmed Malky Mackay as its new manager – and he leaves with the best wishes of the Hornets' leadership team.
"I can't hide the fact I'm disappointed to see Malky leave. I do, however, wish him the very best of luck and every success for the future as he begins work at his new club."

It is Malky Mackey then

Cardiff finally got their man in the end with Malky Mackey is on board has the new manager. It now closes the door officially on the madness surrounding the post we the fans have had to put up with after the sacking of Dave Jones. Now the work begins a new squad to build and fans to impress and the owners and board who are looking beyond the Championship. I was not a fan of Dave Jones but give him my full support has manager of Cardiff City until the Reading game. If he had stayed with the Bluebirds, he would still have my support because at the end of the day it is about Cardiff City not the individual.

From what I have heard we have a new boss with passionate about his football, someone who unlike the past manager would not talk about a game against your local and deadly rivals as just another game. Something I have been hoping for some time is passion in the dugout

His managerial career consists of a short stint has caretaker at Watford. Then, a manager Brendan Rodgers left for Reading, he moved on from coach to boss for the last two seasons for the same club. In his two-year tenure in charge at Watford there finished mid-table both seasons. Before joining the Bluebirds, other clubs Newcastle and Burnley were looking towards him as a possible manager. Instead of moving he signed a new three- and a half year contract in March with Watford.

New 'Malaysian' kit

The new kit has been revelled on the official Cardiff City and the shirt will be baring the name of a country 'Malaysia'. It emphasise the bond the Malaysian owners are trying to build between Cardiff City and Malaysia and the marketing opportunities in Malaysia could be massive.

However, the South Wales Echo are reporting a number of sponsorship deals for the shirt were turned down to wear the name "Malaysia" on the new kit for next season. Only the home kit is featured pre orders will be taken later on the Cardiff City Stadium Superstore website.

Last season loan signings - What happened next

The Question is what happened to all those loan signings who spent time at the Cardiff City Stadium last season. They went back to their clubs, but what's next season got installed for them.

Jason Brown Blackburn - The young goalkeeper is looking spent the end of the season with the Bluebirds and now is looking for a new club is after being release has a free agent.

Stephen Bywater Derby - That the time of writing he is still at Derby be is expected to drop down the pecking order with Derby looking for a new goalkeeper. Likely to leave if the right offer was made and the chance of regular football.

Jason Koumas Wigan - Can leave as a free agent with Sheffield Wednesday showing interest in him earlier in the summer, but he feels he better than Division One football.

Seyi Olofinjana Hull - Still at Hull, but his future is uncertain with the Championship club. They are looking to clear some of their high-earners off their payroll and Olofinjana.

Jay Emmanuel Thomas Arsenal - Not on the Premier League free agents list published this week.

Craig Bellamy Manchester City - He is in limb not wanted by his club Manchester City and unclear if he has a future with Cardiff City. Manchester City according to newspaper reports they want £4 million for Bellamy, which could be a problem for the Bluebirds.

Aaron Ramsey Arsenal - After his brief loan spell at Cardiff, he is all nicely tucked up back up with his club Arsenal.

Danny Drinkwater Manchester United - After loan spells with Cardiff and Watford, he is back with Manchester United. Possibility he could be loaned out again chances with the first team nil.

Andrew Keogh Wolves - He is after regular football and is unlikely to find it with Wolves. The Dubliner is likely to be open to offers from interested Championship club over the close season.

Jlloyd Samuel Bolton - Released by Bolton free agent Jlloyd Samuel is targeting a top-flight club. He wants to stay in the Premier League

Fixtures throw up the Hammers first out

The fixtures are out and you can see the full list HERE, but here are a few games I picked out that are of interest to me. The first game is against relegated West Ham away, but the game could fall victim to kick off change once the police look at it. There is also the chance game could be picked up by Sky of the BBC for broadcast. First home game will be a Sevenside derby with Bristol City crossing the bridge to Wales.

My favourite time of the season this the Christmas/New Year period, but it was a bit of a downer this season in between Christmas two away games. The Boxing Day fixture is at Watford at will be followed by a New Years Eve trip away at Nottingham Forest.

The last game of the season is away with a trip to London and Crystal Palace. That will make it four seasons the Bluebirds last game has been away.

These fixtures are not written in stone has they can change once rugby, the police and broadcasters are factored in. The day is not over fans have their fingers crossed for an announcement on the manager's job and fans will finally get to see the new Bluebirds kit.

Is Malky on the way?

You just can take your eyes off the whole Cardiff City merry-go-round one minute the rumour is the Watford boss Malky Mackay has walked out on the club so clearing the way for Cardiff City. Next he hasn't, but Cardiff City have now received reports to have permission to talk to their manager. Any second now I expect Sir Alex Ferguson to walkout on Manchester United to become the new boss at Cardiff City.

After the brief flirtation with Alan Shearer, it looks like the Bluebirds are zeroing in on the man they always wanted. Well maybe zeroing in on someone on their list. Now does he want the job? Both clubs are rumoured to have sorted out compensation for Watford before speaking to Mackay so it looks like it down to him and we could know something today or tomorrow if he is up for the job.

He will walk into this office at the Vale training ground with a mountain of work to do his biggest task to put together a squad. He will need at least ten new signs if he is happy with the present squad and will Craig Bellamy be in his plans. There is the coaching staff will they be part of his plans or will he have plans of his own along those lines.

God knows what will happen if he was to turn the job down maybe we could start the season with a manager ned like goalie net also known as 'rush goalie'

Description on the term Goalie ned
The goalkeeper position is left unfilled until the ball comes near the goal. At this point the nearest player to the ball will take on the role of goalkeeper. Once the danger has passed the player in goal may then return being a normal outfield player again. Goalie ned is only played in informal football matches, usually by children, and often when all of the players wish to play a more active role in the game than the position of goalkeeper would normally allow or when the number of players per side is particularly low.

This there any manager that has been missed out in the search for the new manager who they have turned down or were not interested. Where next! Hopefully there will be press conference.

Oxford United away in the Carling Cup

Not the most exciting of fixtures, but what do you expect in the early rounds of the Cardiff City when the opening round is seeded and there is a North/South divide.

So we have to make do with a trip to Oxford United. The last time the Bluebirds met the Division Two club was back in January 2000 when they were both in Division Two a season that saw the Oxford club finish just above the relegated Welsh club. The last time they faced each other in the league Cup was 1978.

If the game would have been at home there wouldn't have been a rush Cardiff City fans to the ticket office. The last two games that the Cardiff City Stadium in Carling Cup First round has seen pitiful crowds. The goal for the league clubs is the Third round with the arrival of the big Premier League clubs.

2010/11 Burton 6,080
2009/10 Dag & Red 5,545

This season Cardiff will be travelling away this season Oxford will be hoping for a big away following.

The Dream team

Just seen Cardiff City chief executive Gethin Jenkins stop at the traffic lights outside my house. In the back was the new Cardiff  City dream team they plan to job share the job two on two off.

And Watford ... they say no

Fresh new is now the whole Shearer thing is over its back to Watford boss Malky Mackay. There are now reports in the local press and on Sky News Sports that Cardiff City has asked permission from Watford to talk to their manager. With all the rumours of meeting over the past week you would think the club knew his inside leg measurements.

However, Watford was quick off the mark to refuse permission so where doesn’t that leave Cardiff now, up the creek without a paddle. The Watford Hornets owner Laurence Bassini said:

“We don’t want Malky to leave Watford and we will do everything in our power to keep him at Vicarage Road.”

Cardiff problem now is Birmingham City are after a new manager and rumoured to targets at one time former West Brom coach Roberto di Matteo and ex-Newcastle boss Chris Hughton are linked to the Midlands club.

My shout for the Cardiff job - No1

Gabriella Benson - She was manager of a Second Division (Championship) team in her first season she brought stability to a relegated threatened club.  The following season the team need three points from their last two games to guarantee promotion to the First Division Premiership.

The first game was away from home 0-0 draw she when into the last game needing a win which she due got in front of her fans. After the game Gabriella told her husband she is 7 weeks pregnant.

No from Shearer so back to the drawing board for Cardiff City

Back to the sofa for football pundit Alan Shearer

When to bed with a possible manager line-up and I wake-up to news he said no. It’s a no from Alan Shearer after meeting Cardiff City over the manager’s job in a statement he said:

"I can confirm I was one of the candidates the club spoke to about the vacant manager's position at Cardiff City.
"During these talks I was most impressed with the vision, ambition and determination of the owner Dato Chan Tien Ghee and the board.
"Unfortunately, those talks were unsuccessful on this occasion.
"Cardiff City is a great club and I wish them every success next season."

So will that mean no announcement from the club on a new manager today?

Looking more and more like Shearer

The Daily Mirror has all but given the Cardiff job to Alan Shearer and has gone so far to name his assistant Tommy Craig. That the moment they are the only news agency carrying this story. The other morning papers are talking about talks taking place. If it is Shearer it will be more than the curve ball I was talking about earlier today it will be like a nuclear bomb going off in the middle of the Cardiff City Stadium.

What will he bring to the post? Eight games of management at Newcastle United not much experience there, but good that sitting on the sofa of Football Focus and Match of the Day as a football pundit. The debate over Shearer is lighting up the messageboards and the likes of Twitter and Facebook with the majority against the thought of Shearer as manager. Once whoever is named boss they should receive the full support of the fans.

If he comes it could put to sleep any chance of Craig Bellamy returning to the club next season. Bellamy and Shearer's relationship deteriorated when abusive text messages were sent from his phone during his spell at Celtic to the Newcastle captain. Shearer reportedly threatened to "knock his block off" if Bellamy returned to Newcastle.

The rumour is that Cardiff will name their new manager tomorrow and put an end to all this madness. All this crap should be squarely lain at the door of the board for not being decisive enough after the Reading game. Dave Jones should have been sacked on the night of the Reading defeat within days not weeks later. History now but if they would have done that at the time maybe the new boss would have been in the job for weeks now.

Shearer's the name .. next boss???

This whole new manager thing is driving me up the wall we have no idea what is going on and it is getting beyond a joke?

Away from the news threads for over an hour or so and Alan Shearer's name is linked with the Cardiff job in this bookies led rumour. Sudden interest in the ex-Newcastle player is coming out of Ireland and more interestingly from the hometown on one Roy Keane.

A spokesman at the bookmakers William Hill explained:

"The market has reacted to a weight of money placed on Alan Shearer to get the Cardiff job in the Cork area of Southern Ireland.
"In most cases these bets come from a massive rumour that circulates in one area and what's interesting in this case is that it's come from Roy Keane's hometown.
"It could be possible that Roy Keane has said something about Shearer taking over at Cardiff and people have reacted by putting money down on it."

Shearer since retiring from Cardiff has carved himself a career in the media has a pundit with the BBC and had a bash at management with Newcastle United, but it didn't last long only eight games. He was only taken on for the eight in a desperate move to keep Newcastle in the Premiership, but that was to fail. He wanted the job and so did the fans wanted him to have the job, but the Newcastle board plumed for Chris Hughton. So is he the curve ball in the race to the dugout at the Cardiff City Stadium. He would be a more high profile boss if the rumour turned out to be right.

It's now being reported that Watford at no approach has been made to talk to their manager Malky Mackay if so who was interviewed yesterday?

The latest quote from Watford chairman Graham Taylor

"We've had no contact from Cardiff.
"There has been a lot of talk that it is almost a done deal, but we have heard nothing from Cardiff.
"Until we hear anything differently there is nothing more I can say."

People (fans) are say don't worry there is plenty of time to sort the squad out everyone's on holiday and contracts done run out until the end of the month. Well Championship rivals Derby County are about to make their sixth signing. We are becoming a laughing stock the big problem is the lack of football experience at board level is becoming a serious problem. If you believe the rumours the new manager could be named today or the middle of next week.

Are we in next season Welsh Cup then

So what's happening about Cardiff City and the Welsh Cup? It's been well over a month since news broke that the Football Association Wales were planning the controversial move to welcome back the clubs that play in the English league set-up. It's been a long 16-year absence for the English based clubs it was the formation of the Welsh Premier League in 1995 that was the catalyst to them being forced out. At the time, the hierarchy that the FAW felt the inclusion for the English based club could be detrimental to the status of the newly formed league.

There was an attempt to bring the Welsh clubs and Cardiff City, Swansea City and the others together with the setup of the FAW Premier Cup, but without the carrot of a European place it was never going to work. The fans saw it has a failure the crowds were dismal, but it ploughed on for 11 seasons (1997/2008). BBC Wales did their best to promote the competition, games were shown live and there were highlights shown, but that didn't help. The Welsh clubs and non-league teams found prize money helpfully and tried to keep it going, but when the BBC decided cancel their sponsorship that was the end.

Before his sacking, Dave Jones said he was up for the Welsh Cup even telling the press he would use his best possible team. If the club was too re-enter the competition the door would be open for a return to European football if they win it of course. The FAW were planning to speak with UEFA and the English FA about their plans, but like the search for the new manager at Cardiff City they are taking their time about it.

It's a pre-season Italian

Cardiff City will play FC Parma at the Cardiff City Stadium has part of the build-up to the start of the new season. The details of the game were revelled on the Parma official website. During the Dave Jones years pre-season consisted of a tour with a number of away fixtures and one home game against a top European club, the only home fixture. Will it stay the same now he has gone maybe the new boss has his own ideas on pre-season?

Serie A side Parma finished mid table last season and the Cardiff game is the first of a four match tour they will also so face Luton Town, QPR and Norwich. It will be a quick return to South Wales for ex-Jack Fabio Borini who spent time on loan to our neighbour in the west before deciding his future rested neither with Chelsea or Swansea, but sunny Italy.

It will be a Saturday afternoon kick-off at 3pm, but according to information Cardiff also have a game with Weston-Super-Mare, same time and day. Wish full thinking by someone at the club with the state of the squad at the moment.

Is Mackay the one

Is he the one
According to rumours and paper chatter Cardiff City will meet with Watford manager Malky Mackay sometime today and could be name manager today. It looks like Cardiff's Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins and director Alan Whitely have found their man if you believe to rumours. He has been linked to a number of clubs since taking over at Watford, Newcastle and Burnley being two.

While all this rumours surrounding Mackay play out in the press and internet there has been no word from Watford until today. The Watford Chairman and ex-England boss Graham Taylor is quoted as saying,

"At this moment in time, we have not had an approach from any club for Malky.
"That said, in football you never know what will happen so you can never tell.
"Malky is linked with virtually every job that comes up. That is because he has done a decent job at Watford and, football being what it is, what you come to expect."

Is Mackay the right man for the job or the cheapest? He has been with Watford since signing for them from West Ham on a free transfer back in 2005. In January 2007 he took over as first team coach at Watford and played his last game the following January on the departure of Aidy Boothroyd later that year he became caretaker until Brendan Rodgers was appointed. When Rodgers resigned in 2009 Mackay was offered the job and as recently as March signed an extended three-and-a-half years contract.

In the two seasons he has been in control at Watford they have finished the seasons mid-table. Not the best record compared with some of the others linked with the club so what makes him so special to put him in front of the pack.

Two Championship bosses leave clubs

Two Championship clubs have become managerless in the last hour of this dour Sunday afternoon as Nottingham Forest parted company with their manage Bill Davies and new relegated Birmingham City's boss Alex McLeish has resigned.

Shock waves have hit the airwaves and Sky Sports News over rumours McLeish could be heading for Birmingham's deadly rivals Aston Villa. While at Nottingham Forest ex-England boss Steve McClaren is in talks and from reports will be offered the job.

Could this news throw a spanner in the search for the new boss at Cardiff as press rumours in the past have linked Davies to the job? Early bookies odd have him favourite for the Birmingham job, but will Dave Jones be dusting off his CV being Skybet are quoting him at 12/1 for the job.
