| The Hammers want Whitts |
Reports in the press are suggesting Cardiff City have turned down a £3.25 million offer for Peter Whittingham from West Ham.
The Cardiff boss Malky MacKay has sent out a warning via the press a number of weeks ago that his star player was not for sale and a major part of his and Cardiff City future. They [Cardiff] intend to buy not sell in the January transfer window fans have been told.
Only a week or so ago Whittingham committed himself to Cardiff saying he would have no complaints if Cardiff were to turn away offers from Premier League clubs. While the Eastenders are not in the Premier League, they are one of the favourites to gain promotion back into the Premiership at the end of the season.
In August Whittingham put is commitment to the club on paper in the process tying himself to the club until 2014 after signing a new contract.
He said recently
"You're always going to get flattered."It means you're doing something right if you are being linked with clubs."But I've said all along that I want to be with Cardiff and I want to get into the Premiership with Cardiff and nothing's changed."
It is a lot of money to turn down if the story is true, but it shows Cardiff City board and management are serious in there push for Premier League status.
