The referee for the first leg at Reading will be Mark Halsey who has refereed three Cardiff City games this season. He was in the middle for both Cardiff/Swansea derbies dishing out nine yellow cards in total. He was also was in charge of Cardiff’s FA Cup game at Stoke City but gave no cards out on that occasion. Of the 32 game he has officiated on he gave out 65 yellow and only one red card.
Howard Webb will be in the middle for the return leg at the Cardiff City Stadium like did last season for the Cardiff/Leicester play-off game. This season he has not ref a Cardiff game but in the 45 he has officiated he seem a bit card happy showing 117 yellow cards with a modest five reds.
