I do know my spelling, grammar and punctuation is CRAP. I put it down to my lack of schooling preferring to mitch (truanting from school) rather than go to school. The joke is firmly on me now, which will bring a smile to any of my old English teachers.

Bothroyd close to a England call-up

Some history could be made in a few days when the England boss Fabio Capello names his squad for the friendly at Wembley against France, because a Cardiff City player could be in line for a call.

After much newspaper talk Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd has been called into the preliminary squad as the England boss waits on the weekend games to see who withdraws through injury.

He will name the squad sometime on Sunday and the squad will then report for duty on Monday and if Bothroyd he will be the first City player to be called up by England.

“Jay is the England preliminary squad and we hope he will still be in there when it is trimmed down over the weekend,” said delighted Bluebirds boss Dave Jones, who pushed Bothroyd’s international case last month.

“For Jay to be called up for England is fantastic for him and everybody at Cardiff City, for all the people who have helped him and his team-mates.

“It would be a proud moment for everybody if he is in the main squad and gets onto the pitch.

“Jay’s goal tally is far better than it was last season but his performances have been on a par. He is finishing chances.”
It he was to don the red or white of England would that make much off a difference to the anyone but England brigade at Cardiff City.
