With a rumour that Cardiff City’s top scorer Jay Bothroyd has turned down a new contract offer or his stalling over a new offer the wheels of the rumour mill is starting to turn.
Bothroyd is linked with another Premier League team, Blackburn Rovers who can now join Fulham, Birmingham and Liverpool who are said to be waiting in the wings or having a look. Cardiff have a bit of a problem with Bothroyd, do they let his contract run out, hope City gain promotion which could keep him at City or sell him in January. With Ledley walking free last summer will they risk it with Bothroyd seeing another player with value walking away?
Cardiff are determined to keep the player with talks on going but come January the pressure to sell will be at its highest. If Bothroyh were to move on then hopefully there will a bit of an auction to help push up the finally fee. With Jones in the maket for some three or four new face and having to watch his back Talking on the subject manager Dave Jones said,
"I had a chat with Jay. We are in negotiations with Jay and his agent, but if he doesn't sign a new deal, then so be it."We would have to respect that, but we will try everything we can to make sure he does sign."You can never be fearful of losing players. As a manager you can lose them to injury or transfer. You have to be aware you could always lose a player."
It’s not just Bothroyd the club are in new contract talks with youngest Adam Matthews and Chris Burke, boss Jones said,
"It's the same situation with Chris Burke and Adam Matthews.
