According to the BBC Sports website Cardiff City have agreed a two-year extension with City midfielder Stephen McPhail, his current contract is due to run out in the summer.
Since joining the Bluebirds back in June 2006 on a free transfer from Barnsley there have been some highs and lows. The FA Cup final would come under the list of highs on the pitch. Not many players get the chance to partake in the build-up to a FA Cup final it must have been something special. The low was personal, his battle with cancer. The news broke towards the end of November 2009 he had been diagnosed with cancer, stage one malt lymphoma. By January the news was good he had won his battle and by the being of was back on the pitch.
It now means the club have tied-up new contracts with McPhail plus Peter Whittingham, Kevin McNaughton and Darcy Blake who have all committed to another two years with the club.
That leaves just Jay Bothroyd, Gavin Rae, Chris Burke and Adam Matthews who are all out of contract in the summer.
