Cardiff City have Londoners Crystal Palace visiting the Cardiff City stadium tomorrow night (kick-off 7:45pm) a team who so far this season don’t like to travel. They have lost all four away games todate and are a point off the relegation zone. They lost heavily on Saturday at Derby, 5-0 and have yet to score a league goal away from home.
The City boss Dave Jones will be hoping for a much better display than Saturdays’ against Millwall. Only a last minute goal saved the blushes of the teams and manager in front of 23,000 plus fans and Vincent Tan and party who were at the game. According to reports the Malaysian backer of the club will be in attendance tomorrow night again.
Dave Jones problems are not only the lacklustre performance on Saturday but the injuries to key players. Midfielder Seyi Olofinjana is said to be the closest to a return and could be in contention for tomorrow, if he is then a late fitness test will tell. Craig Bellamy is unlikely to be involved against Crystal Palace but there could be an outside chance for the trip to Barnsley. After the Barnsley game Wales have two European Championship qualifiers against Bulgaria at home and away to Switzerland but Dave Jones feels Bellamy should be over looked for a call up. Since joining the Bluebirds on loan from Manchester City he has managed only two games and came back from international carrying an injury and has not played since.
Michael Chopra could be fit enough for at least the bench on Saturday if not he is expected to be fit for the first game after the international break home against Bristol City along with Danny Drinkwater. New signing Chris Riggott is building up is fitness with a target of the Bristol game.
