Portsmouth have won their case in the High Court and there will be no appeal by HMRC but will this backfire on the Bluebirds next Wednesday. The taxman is constantly losing against football clubs, there need a bigger victory was over Chester, but they were dead and buried anyway.
The rumour doing the rounds on the internet are that in preliminary talks between the club and HMRC, the taxman is playing hard ball in the quest to get the money they are owed. Next up are Cardiff City on Wednesday owing the taxman this time over a £1.3m Paye bill. The club are insisting they are up to date with payments but a High Court judge must formally dismiss Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs case for the legal action to be dropped.
It's going to be a case of wait and see the last time we were in court the clubs representative made great play about the Malaysians talking over. They are looking more to putting the club in a strong finance position then just splash the cash around. If they are here for the long run like they are saying, then slow and easy is the best way. The last two chairman through money around and that why we are in the mess we are in.
I have to say I had a bit of a chuckle on news of Celtic been kicked out of the Champions League at the first hurdle. It must be hard on Joe McLedley in less than a week he has lost out on a chance of two pieces of silver wear for his new shiny trophy cabinet.
The was the Mickey mouse cup at Arsenal last weekend and now no great European nights in the Champions League but there is still a chance in the Europa League for that glory run.
Young Defender Aaron Morris who was release by Cardiff boss Dave Jones is summer as found a new club, Division Two Aldershot. Morris has had trail with Exeter where he profess he would be happy to stay, but with the size of the squad and think of his career when for a trial with Brighton. He spent about a week training with Brighton before joining the Diviston Two club Aldershot after signing a one-yaer-contract.
The Welshman made his debut in the 2-1 win over Colchester United in last Saturday pre-season. He came on for the second half and impressed in the match report he was classed has a outstanding player.
Will ex- Cardiff defender Tony Capaldi kick-off the new season with a new club? It was looking highly likely he would be going back to his old club Plymouth after a successful trial. However out of the blue he when for a trial with Championship club Crystal Palace but the deal fell through at the last minute.
Lucky for him is that Plymouth are still reported to be interested after Plymouth manager Peter Reid was impressed with the left-back during his stay with the club. Capaldi will be hoping Reid has not moved on.
