Some good news and a start will the rest follow quickly to help boss Dave Jones, Cardiff City have lifted one of the stumbling blocks to getting the transfer embargo.
The players got the Professional Footballers’ Association involved but the club have paid the former players severance pay they were owed.
Bluebird’s chief executive Gethin Jenkins said:
“We are working hard to get the embargo lifted by the end of the week.
“We have paid the monies the players were due, as we said we would last week.”
Cardiff still has to sort out the debt to Charlton of £500.000 but the big one is the tax man. Since January trips to the High Court in London have become a bit too regular for the City. The tax man is after £1.3million, it would be good if we could pay it in full today, but I have a feeling the Cardiff lawyers will be looking to cut a deal.
