If the deal was to come off Manchester City would have to pay the bulk of his wages, and do they (Manchester City) want loan out one of their top strikers to a Premiership rivals. He was left out of 25 squad members for the Europa League and was certain to miss out when it comes to the 25 to be register for the Premier League. If he is still a Manchester City player come January when the 25 or others are re-register if Roberto Mancini is still boss Bellamy inclusion seems unlikely.

The club made a short statment tonight with a spokesman saying:

"With the number and the names of the clubs being mentioned in connection to Craig it is flattering that we are an option, but at this stage it is pure speculation. Being connected to a player of this calibre shows how far we have come, to be even considered in a deal like this. We would love it to happen of course, but we are by no means alone in this.''

Harry Redknapp said earlier today when asked about taking Bellamy to Spurs:

"He's never going to come here on loan.
