| Looking for a future |
Talking in today’s South Wales Echo defender Gabor Gyepes considers future away from Cardiff City in a search of regular first team football. Since he joining the City in the August 2008, just into the start of the season from Northampton he has had a hit or miss relationship with the fans. He made his debut a few days after signing come on at half time in the 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest.
In that season his appearances pick-up around December and until the end of the season he was more or less a regular on managers Dave Jones team sheet. He scored his first of three goals December 08, against Ipswich.
Last season he seemed to be out of favour with Jones but like the previous it was around Christmas that is season pick-up. It was looking like his season was going to end on a strong note until he picked up a red card at the end of March. He played in the last game of that season but didn’t figure in the Play-off semis or final.
There was a rumour Ipswich were interested in the Hungarian international but there was no follow up. Even with the Embargo and the shortage of players there is one spot which as abundance of choices, in the middle of the City’s defence.
He told the Echo,
“If a player does not play properly, the feeling in the mind becomes that he wants to move because he wants to play.
“There are four of us at Cardiff looking at two positions and that says in my mind that if I do get the chance to play somewhere else then I have to think about it.
“To be honest, I don’t think I will be on the team sheet for the first game. That is my personal feeling.
“I want to be there, but after last season I don’t believe I will be .
“I was disappointed last season because I want to play first-team football and I did not play as much as I wanted. It’s as simple as that. I am not where I want to be and it is very hard.
“Maybe I have to make a decision about it.
“But at the moment I want to stay at Cardiff and I want to show what I can do.
“I just have to keep going and working hard and if I do get a chance I must make sure I am ready to take it.”
