According to BBC Sport Wales, Cardiff City have rejected a bid for midfielder Peter Whittingham, from Nottingham Forest which at best must be regarded has a joke offer in the region of £1m.They see a club have with some money worries and have a nerve to make a bid like that. Whittingham is going into the new season off the back of his best which saw him top goal scorer in the Championship. There was a time they were being linked with £2million plus bid from Forest but then, there is no need sell. The Malaysian backers support manager Jones wishes to keep his squad together, soon as the embargo is lifted they will back is search for new blood.
Forest has been chasing Whittingham all summer not a week goes by without some rumour or another. Burnley tried their luck with a £1million bid but where quickly shown the door.
With backing from the top Dave Jones has constantly said there will be on fire sale here, it would take some crazy offer just to get some interest. If Jones was of a mind to sell how could he find a replacement with the embargo?
With only a year left on his present contract Cardiff chief executive Gethin Jenkins has started talks with Whittingham over a three-year deal. The last thing Cardiff fan won’t to see is another player walking free like Joe Ledley.

as a forest fan i would not want them to spend anymore than 1.5million on him when you consider a)that he could go for a free in a year's time, and b) he's someone who never reached his potential and hasn't exactly set the championship on fire aside from last season - so you never know, whilst i doubt it, it may have been a fluke last season.
