I do know my spelling, grammar and punctuation is CRAP. I put it down to my lack of schooling preferring to mitch (truanting from school) rather than go to school. The joke is firmly on me now, which will bring a smile to any of my old English teachers.

Dave Jones concerned about Burton Albion Carling Cup game

With only fifteen professionals at the club according to Cardiff City boss Dave Jones and with international friendly game next week, Jones is concerned he will not be able to put together a team to face Burton Albion Wednesday week.

He is calling for a postponement of the game because he just doesn’t have enough players!

Jones expects goalkeeper David Marshall will be on Scotland duty and with Stephen McPhail on the injury list, number in his squad will be down with him relying on a number of first year professionals.

All Cardiff need to pick up an injury or two against Sheffield United next Sunday and where does at leave Dave Jones and Cardiff City? The transfer embargo needs lifting, how come Portsmouth have been given special dispensation to sign three players despite being under a transfer embargo. Why isn’t Dave Jones on the phone to the Football League for some of this dispensation that is going around there is a prescient set.

According to press reports they were allowed to bring in three players has there squad was below the minimum squad size of 20.

A Football League spokesman said:

"The Football League is working with the club to help it reduce its wage bill. As part of this process, it has given the club permission to bring in replacement players on a case-by-case basis."
Do we need to go into administration before the Football League helps us and other teams in the same position? Why are the new owners lumbered with the transfer embargo when it was the last administration regime that was responsible for the problems?

Speaking to the media the City boss said:

“My next problem is I’ve got players called up to internationals and I’ve only got 15 professionals left here.

“I’ve got one goalkeeper going off to Scotland, so what do I do there?

“The Football League are telling me I’ve got to play, but how can I play without players?“
I was led to believe summer signing goalkeeper Tom Heaton was available to play next Sunday but according to the same article he is not registered. We know Danny Drinkwater can’t register until the embargo is lifted.

Jones surprises a lot of fans by naming two trialists in his squad for the Deportivo La Coruna friendly. Toni Kallio a Finnish international was release by Fulham started the game. It has to be said he has not had playing time since joining Fulham and they loaned him out twice to Sheffield United.

Grégory Vignal was the other player on trial he was at Premier League club Birmingham last season only featuring in eight games. Jones will also check out American college footballer Martin John.
