The season is up and running and with my team Cardiff sitting out today because they are on TV tomorrow, how did our rivals made out. Early I know but today some interested score were thrown up.
The new boys to the Championship had mixed fortunes of the three who made the drop from the Premiership, two had good wins while the other took a bit of a battering. Burnley had a good win 1-0 against Nottingham Forest and Hull had a better 2-0 win over Swansea. It was Portsmouth who slipped up losing 2-0 at Coventry. Portsmouth manager boss Aidy Boothroyd only had four substitutes on the bench.
For the promoted three it was an early kick-off for Norwich, Friday night and they lost 3-2 to Watford. I the late Saturday game Leeds came a cropper with a 2-1 defeat at home to Derby so that left Millwall. They turned out winners beating Bristol City 3-0 with England’s No1 keeper David James's making debut, not the greatest of debuts.
QPR had the biggest win of the day 4-0 over Barnsley putting them top of the League unless Cardiff City or Sheffield United does better when they play tomorrow. The division big spenders Middlesbrough lost at home to Ipswich. Crystal Palace, Doncaster and Scunthorpe all win beating Leicester, Preston and Reading respectively.
