Dennehy off to Barnet now

Gillingham  have competition for the signature of defender Darren Dennehy who negotiated a release from Cardiff City and is now a free agent.

His old boss while he was on loan with Gillingham Mark Stimson wants him to join him at his new club, Barnet. Talks have taken place between Dennehy and Stimson and according to the local press and it looks a done deal. Both teams are in Division Two with Gillingham one of the favourites to win promotion however it is the manager who likes to have clinched the deal.


Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler said:

“We’re disappointed a bit at his representative as the (Gillingham) chairman had sorted things out.

“We thought we had done the deal but at the last minute he changed his mind.

“That’s football and we understand because he worked for Mark last year.”

He has not had much luck with the Bluebirds since joining back in June 2008. I never played a first team game and was loaned out three times, twice to Hereford and Gillingham.
