Nottingham Forest are looking to strengthen their team at the expense of the Bluebirds with a link to Peter Whittingham in today’s press. Ex-Forest player and media pundits Garry Birtles has called on his old club to step up their interest in the Cardiff midfielder.
Whittingham was Championship and club top goal scorer last season and with only a year left on his contract putting pressure on the club to get him to sign a new one or sell. Cardiff can ill afford for him to walk away free next summer, there is still a chance Joe Ledley can still go free if he goes anywhere but the English system with Cardiff losing millions.
Whittingham would be another player on boss Dave Jones ‘keepy’ list has he fights to keep his team together. Forest boss Billy Davies has a £2million bid in mind, but surely he is worth more than that. Birtles seems to think so call for the Forest boss to raise his offer has he believes the midfielder could help secure Premiership football.
The Forest boss is away off on the valuation of the City’s start midfielder there has been speculation of up to £6million but the club could be willing to listen for £4million plus .
