The season is starting to feel real now with the fixtures out for next season. I had a bit of a twinge yesterday with the Carling Cup, with the league fixtures out, pre-season training a few weeks away the start of the season (7th August) I am on track and back in Championship mode. When I see the fixtures for the first time I am always drawn to the Christmas games. I have fond memories of Boxing Day and New Years Day games. This season we are home on Boxing Day with Coventry making the trip to the CCS. The inbetweeny game City are off to Watford and on the 1st Januray it is the short trip over the brigde to face Bristol City. On the Monday 3rd Leeds United will be at the Cardiff City stadium.
Ok its derby time and we still have the Welsh derby plus the sevenside derby we play Swansea at home at the beginning of November the return trip will be at the beginning of February. Bristol City visit Cardiff 16th Oct and the Bluebirds make the trip over the bridge to Bristol on New Year’s Day.
It always good to play the first game at home and we have Sheffield United visiting last game of the season is not at home Cardiff has to travel to Burnley.
I’m happy with our fixtures and yes I did nip on the Premiership fixtures to take a look at Blackpool fixtures for ‘a what if’ moment, but was I jealous, not really Wigan home. I have it to look forward to next season.
**All the fixtures are subject to change owing to eggby and the Sky and the BBC**
