Cardiff City and the taxman are now friends after the debt of £1.9million was paid off. Next the club needs a receipt stamped as paid and tell the court everyone is happy next week. Then the club can pass it on to the Football League so the transfer embargo can be lifted and do some shopping in the transfer market.
Chief executive Gethin Jenkins told the Echo, “I can confirm that the HMRC petition debt has been settled in full.”
Now City boss Dave Jones can now knuckle down to his transfer ‘wanted’ list but with uncertainty over the future of some of his players who are attracting offers from club so he will need to reign back a bit. Joe Ledley looks a certainly to go with Jones hoping for a Premier League club to put in a strong offer in to temp him from Celtic. The issue with Michael Chopra has to be clarified.... is he for sell? Ipswich are making all the right noises that he is and if the bid is right they can have him.
Fans have been lead to believe that any major transfer money must be gathered via the sale of players. The Malaysians plan to run a tight ship financial and there has already been some pruning of staff at the club. According to the Echo Dato Clan will be returning to Cardiff for talks over the club’s financial future.
