To be honest I am scratching my head over what is happening with the football club in love, Cardiff City. Are the Malaysians waking up to the cost of running a football club especially one with very little income coming in over the next season. With all of season ticket money gone the Malaysians will find little relief on their pockets from that direction it is going to be a hard season ahead. With the wage bill a reported £1.2million a month the comes out at £14.2milloin a year.
Cardiff have a reported 17,000 season ticket with around 3 to 4,000 fans who pay per game, that will generate a drop in the ocean towards the running cost and wages of the club. So the club will have to rely on the merchandise and the corporate end of the club and maximise it the best they can. There will be still large hole in the clubs finances with players the only valuable assist. Cardiff have a new replica shirt coming out for this season but still no date for its release.
But for Joe Ledley the Malaysian owners have stated no players were need to be sold and have turned down offers for Michael Chopra and Peter Whittingham. However the South Wales Echo is reporting today that no more outfield players will be coming in. The only player expected to sign is goalkeeper Tom Heaton so all the talk of Craig Bellamy and lists is looking pretty weak now.
The trip to Malaysia called off for one reason or another but the club reason over logistics problems seem farfetched with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool happily touring there. The club have announced they expect to tour Malaysia next summer. City boss Dave Jones is looking to go to Portugal again and hopefully put together a last-minute two-match tour.
It been confirmed that wages are late again with the club putting it down to do with the money transferring from abroad. Chief executive Gethin Jenkins told BBC Wales,
"Following a delay in international currency transfers... players, staff etc at Cardiff City haven't been paid on the normal due date.
"However, it's anticipated that these matters will be resolved in the next day or so."
We have just got to sit back and way to see what's going to happen. There is a campaign rising from some City fans to bring back Sam Hammam could the nightmare return.
