Probably a reaction to the Jones/Ridsdale spat at the weekend but the Daily Mirror in its Football Spy column there is a suggest Cardiff City boss Dave Jones will review his future with the City in the summer.
The paper is linking the club’s financial plight to this rumour unless Cardiff put off a miracle and gain promotion (PLEASE DON’T LAUGH IT COULD HAPPEN) the cash strapped club will have major problems in the summer. The taxman is still on the clubs back with another court appearance in the High Court on March 10.
It there is no takeover or investment the money will soon dry up, the season ticket money for next season has gone. The only money coming in will be from the walk up crowd, food and drink sale, the club shop, and other bits and pieces the money made on the sale of player, which will need to keep up debt payments.
There will be a mass sale of players in the summer any player with a price on his head will be going, eight are out of contract in the summer which will help the wage bill somewhat but who will replace the players going. Free transfer on low wages players of on Division One/Two or non-league, maybe Jones will do is shopping in Scotland or Ireland.
No like the Mirror, I believe he will be off in the summer after five years in the hot seat. Like him, I thought this was the season especially when the season ticket deal was announced, then the pack of cards the clubs finances was built on started to collapse.
