Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack is unhappy warming the bench and believes his confidence is draining away and has things look he could be the first knocking on managers Dave Jones door come the summer asking about his future. McCormack got into trouble with a in the summer after he said he would like a move along with a rumour at he had handed in a transfer request. His agent then said he had a 'gentleman's agreement' in his contract that stipulates that he can speak to any Premier League club who bid for his services.
Hull was definitely interested but the manager was not happy with the valuation placed on the player, Portsmouth also looked at the Scottish international but interest soon drifted away. He got some stick when he turned out for City at Swindon. McCormack said after the game, "I'm
upset by the fans reaction to be honest.
“They were chanting and there was some abuse. I expected it. I suppose I would be disappointed if I were a fan in this situation,"
It was not a good start to the season for the City striker after playing in the first game was then out until the beginning of October with a hamstring injury and have spent the rest of the season on and off the bench mainly from midfield.
He said recently, “I’m a bit fed up and frustrated.
“I thought I’d be back in the starting set-up after playing five games and scoring three and playing reasonably well.
“Then I get dropped. It’s disappointing, but I can’t let it affect me.”
“I think I can play in a number of positions, but it’s down to the gaffer whether he has got the confidence in me to play me in those positions.
“Its doesn’t worry me to play out wide.
“Obviously I prefer to play through the middle, but, provided I start, I’m happy.”
He has only managed three goals this season two in the league from his limited playing time but Michael Chopra and Jay Bothroyd are the preferred attacking option of the Cardiff manager. The same old story, three strikers into two just do not go, one left to the sidelines and nine times out the ten will be unhappy with the situation. If McCormack was not getting frustrated and voicing his concerns the fans would worry about his commitment to the club.
