There was a press conference at 2pm today at the Cardiff City Stadium where Chairman Peter Ridsdale clarified the clubs position following yesterdays’ statement.
The big question on the mind of most Cardiff City fans was if Peter Ridsdale was going to resign. The simply answer was NO and he told the gathered media that he enjoys the unanimous support of the board who feel a regime change would not be beneficial for the club. Ridsdale said he recognises the supporters feel let down and he his sorry. "I know that a number of our supporters will look for a regime change but we are going through a difficult time. After a long discussion with the board this morning it was decided that a regime change at this moment in time would not be the best thing for Cardiff City."
On the Season ticket plan it will be honoured by that he must mean the five year deal and the refund if the City make the Premier League but of course the big one he is not honouring, the money to manager Dave Jones for new players. He when on to talk about admitting the season ticket idea was misleading, but insists this was not intentional - I am lost now. He said, "I admit I made a mistake. Until yesterday, we believed there would be money coming in before the transfer window.
"My priority is to make sure we pay our creditors.
"The supporters deserve an apology because I made a mistake.
"I don't believe I have lied. I think the word lie is inappropriate.
"The season ticket campaign which was launched pre Christmas is an offer which remains and I hope we will be handing back money to supporters when we achieve promotion to the Premier League.
"At the time we were working on a number of areas of funding which we believed would, along with the season ticket scheme, would allow us to sort out paying our creditors and bring in players.
"The other areas we are working on have not materialised to date although some of them are still being discussed.
"To the degree that the campaign was misleading I apologise but it was not deliberate.
"I take grave exception to anyone suggesting I have lied."
When he asked if the tax bill will be paid by February 10, Ridsdale at a time when he needs to be open with the fans said, "You'll find out on February 10th." So we fans have to sit on the edge of our chairs nervously waiting until February 10. For Christ sake why can he just tell us the date?
