Cardiff have a new date for the postponed Bristol City v Cardiff City FA Cup 3th round game, it will now take place on Tuesday Jan 12th 7:45pm.
The match referee Peter Walton declared the pitch unplayable after an inspection at 10am this morning. He said, “The ground staff have made a great effort to get the game on.
“Three-quarters of the pitch is totally playable, but unfortunately at the top (East) end where the sun doesn’t get to it, the ground is very hard.
“In terms of safety and finishing the game, perhaps the game could become a lottery at times in that particular area.
“I wasn’t prepared to gamble and for that reason I’ve called the game off.”
Some Cardiff fans were on the road before receiving information the game had been called off. Fans with tickets have been advised to keep their ticket has they are valid for the rearranged game. If you cannot make the rearranged game and want a refund, the club will announce details in a day or two.
Today’s game was to be televised live on S4C and via FATV on the internet. Everyone will have a wait and see if the game will be screen live. If a reply is need it will be on the 19th so both clubs will be in the draw tomorrow for the 4th Round.
