The lousy weather cannot be helping Cardiff City boss Dave Jones in his search for new players with games being called off left, right, and centre. He will have to make do with his wants list and reports and the ever-ready agents looking to put their players in the mix. The weather forecast is not good for the next two week with the football fixtures some already been call off.
Three games in the Championship are off so far,
Preston v Doncaster OFF
Sheff Wed v Peterborough OFF
Watford v Sheff Utd OFF
Reading v Newcastle,OFF
I for one was hoping to see at least one new face for the Blackpool game Saturday, it could still happen but unlikely. I am relying on chairman Peter Ridsdale is in true to his word and there is money for Dave Jones to spend or bring in loan players.
Leeds victory over Manchester United on Sunday could have help Dave Jones interest in United’s midfielder Darron Gibson after Sir Alex Ferguson let ripe on his team in particular his midfield. Maybe the United boss could be more amiable to a loan period with the Bluebirds.
On the upside for Saturday midfielder Gavin Rae is in contention for Saturday after having the plaster cast on his injury hand removed. Rae said: “The cast came off on Tuesday and everything seems to be fine, all I have to do is see the specialist today and then I’ll be available for selection on Saturday against Blackpool.
“I know the lads would have preferred to have played over the weekend against Bristol, but the break has helped me and a couple of other players get the chance to recover and get back to first-team duties which is always good.”
