Things must be bad if Cardiff City is willing to talk to your fans deadly rivals about sell one of your star players to them. The news that Swansea City has held talks about the possibility of signing Jay Bothroyd has gone down like a lead balloon with most fans. The Swansea chairman revealed he held talks with Dave Jones saying, “We have spoken to Dave Jones about the possibility of signing Jay.
“We were interested in a number of strikers and that was one conversation we had.
“He is not a player that is within our price range, though. Cardiff’s valuation for Jay is miles out from where we put ours.
“That is where things stand at the moment. We couldn’t come anywhere near Cardiff’s valuation.
“It is not a disappointment, though. It’s fine for us, no concern whatsoever.”
Cardiff has a value of £3million on the head of the City striker, which is way beyond the price range of Swansea. On top of that, there is Bothroyd’s wages that could have been an obstacle as well because Swansea would have to break their strict wage policy to match is wages with the City.
All Cardiff fans know that the club has put a price on all the players and will only consider if the valuation is met something Swansea could not do. It was rumoured the Aston Villa was interested in Bothroyd leading the player to say he was happy at Cardiff.
