I do know my spelling, grammar and punctuation is CRAP. I put it down to my lack of schooling preferring to mitch (truanting from school) rather than go to school. The joke is firmly on me now, which will bring a smile to any of my old English teachers.

End of season payday

Cardiff City fans should take a bit more of an interest in the Premiership not just because we could be playing there next season but because of the future Birmingham City with a end of the season payday on the cards.

With money tight, well until promised investment kick’s the survival of the Midlands club at the top table could see Cardiff having a wind fall at the end of the season. That this time Birmingham are riding high in the table with a nine unbeaten run under their belts

In ‘The Mole’ section of the Sunday Mirror there was article reporting Cardiff could well see a £833,333 windfall coming the way of the Bluebirds.

The move of Roger Johnson to Birmingham in the summer for £5million had a clause that would see the club receive £333,333 if they stay in the Premiership. First thing that came into my mind reading the article what an interesting figure to come up with.

So why is the guy in the paper saying the club would be getting a £833,333 windfall, where is the other £500,000 coming from? Well he is putting down the ex-City striker Cameron Jerome who left Cardiff for Birmingham back in 2006 in a £3million deal. This is what was written

'And maybe Birmingham have forgotten, but when they signed Cameron Jerome for £3 back in 2006 they agreed a £500,000 bonus if they retained Premier League status during his first four years at the club.'

I do remember there was talk of the deal rising to a potentially £4million but clubs are not too forthcoming with details of these kind of clause’s. That the time the South Wales Echo the deal was said to be going to be paid in three stages - £3m guaranteed, plus £500,000 if Birmingham City are promoted within the next three years and another half a million pounds if they are then not relegated within three years.
