I have no idea where this story has emerged from but it gave me a laugh this morning. Newcastle manager Chris Hughton is in the market for a new striker as been well known for the last few weeks. His main target being the highly rated Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford who has been linked with a number of clubs. The Chopra story seems to have come from a few North East papers yesterday in the Newcastle Chronicle they are saying
‘And the Chronicle understands that out-of-favour Cardiff City star Michael Chopra is also being considered for a shock return to Gallowgate’
The South Shields Gazette are also running the story reminding their readers that Alan Shearer was interested to signing Chopra in the summer but all the trouble around will he won’t he be manager left Dave Jones and Cardiff City as front runners. The Gazette reckons it would take a sizeable bid to persuade the Bluebirds to sell.
Chopra as not scored since the end of September after a loan period last season Cardiff stump up four million in the summer to Sunderland on a permanent deal. It a rumour which could die has quick has it came but one thing is for sure Chopra would love to play for Newcastle he is a fan and has said before he would love a chance to play for them.
It would be unlikely Jones and Ridsdale would want to sell unless stupid money was involved early in the season the chairman said Cardiff would properly need to sell a player in January but now City are looking to buy with the early season ticket money. Cardiff are also wait on some more investment for the Far East but it is all gone quiet on that front.

Media bollox!
Don't worry, us Toon fans don't want any rejects back.
I don't think Chopra will return to Newcastle - he's done well at Cardiff and should be able to help you get to the Premier League - but Michael has shown he cannot hack it in the Premier league. Remember January will be the silly seaso - with all kinds of silly stories.
he wont come back up here, he's a championship player, not good enough for the prem
also ALLEGATIONS that he owes some not very nice people up here money for gambling debts
Unfortunately for us Newcastle fans this is true. Has been known for a good month or so.
Alan Shearer is coming back as a player for the second half of our campaign.
