Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd open a bit of a can of worms when he had a pop at Swansea a few days ago in the local press. Today Swansea midfielder Leon Britton got personal and fired one back according to the South Wales Echo.
Britton who claims to have known the City striker since they were kids and played together with the England schoolboys had something to say on the matter of Bothroyd. He was reported has saying, “I have known Jay since I was 11 or 12,” Britton said, “and he is not the brightest of lads.
“I was with him at Arsenal and I played with him for England schoolboys, so I know him well.
“He has had trouble in his past. I remember at Arsenal he got subbed in one game and he threw his shirt at Don Howe. That was the end of him at Arsenal.
“Jay is no stranger to controversy, and he was probably just looking to get a reaction with what he has said about us.”
“To be honest, he probably doesn’t know where Cardiff are in the table, never mind where we are.”
It's still not sure if Bothroyd will be playing today after a injury scare was revealed yesterday but if he is there could be a very frosty handshake between the two players.
Went Bothroyd signed for Cardiff the fans took awhile to appreciate him, he was not a regular goal scored but his work rate and his ability in and around the box have won him legions of fans and received plaudits from media watchers.
