Chairman Pater Ridsdale is to open the clubs wallet to release some funds after giving the go-ahead for manager Dave Jones to add another striker to his squad according to the South Wales Echo.Jones will now be on the lookout for a big striker to act as cover for Jay Bothroyd and give him some competition for his place by using the emergency loan transfer window to sign someone. As well as the loan window Jones could sign an out of contract without a club and free agents when the previous window closed.
If a new striker could be brought it will mean recently signed Kelvin Etuhu could move out to his more natural position wide on the left. Ridsdale was asked the question of a new striker at the meeting in Merthyr on Monday and responded by telling the meeting, “I totally agree we need another striker, a big lad.
“We have the opportunity to bring somebody in and we will when we find the right player.
“We do need a big striker to add extra strength to the squad. That is a glaring area. We need to address that and will as quickly as possible."
