Looks like the Daily Mail as plucked out a name out from thin air and are linking Sam Vokes with a loan deal with the Bluebirds. There was a cry from Cardiff City fans on the Mike Morris messageboard a few days back to sign the young Welsh striker when word of is availability became public. If the Cardiff boss Dave Jones was interested he would have to fight off a host of club rumoured to be linked with him on a loan signing.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy as delaying any move at the moment until either of his injured strikers Sylvan Ebanks-Blake or Chris Iwelumo is available again, both are expected to regain their fitness by the end of the week. The Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock revealed he had enquired about Vokes but was put off by a sizeable ‘loan fee’ Wolves were asking for and he claimed Newcastle and Middlesbrough had agreed to pay. If that is true it should be enough to scare off Cardiff City and chairman Peter Ridsdale with money tight. Chief executive Jez Moxey said: “As always, we’re not going to be talking about financial details.
“But Sam’s future is likely to be sorted out within the next few days.”
Other club in the chase according to rumour mill are Derby, Coventry, Watford, Doncaster and Swansea all interested in the 19-year-old, Welsh international but at this time both Newcastle and Middlesbrough are front runners.
