It did look like a long shot but worth a punt with the FAW over Steve McPhail sending off at Reading was upheld.Has well has the injuries in his squad to worry about Cardiff boss Dave Jones will now be without McPhail for the next three games which will be a blow. He will miss the OPR Saturday plus Villa Wednesday and Sheffield Wednesday the following Saturday.
Cardiff submitted their video evidence hoping to show McPhail did not make contact with Reading defender Jem Karacan but the FAW disciplinary panel took the opposite view. Referee Paul Taylor would have submitted his view on the incident but seeing as he gave the City midfielder a straight red card there was little chance he would overturn his decision. The Cardiff manager did ask Taylor to look at the clash after the game but it couldn’t have changed his mind.
Dave Jones told the BBC "It's another poor decision by the FAW.
"We've watched the video over and over, and the evidence shows that Stephen didn't touch the boy.
"We wouldn't have appealed if we didn't think we had proper grounds."
