Paper rumour of the day in the Daily Mirror’s ‘Football Spy’, Cardiff City are to hijack Sam Vokes move to Championship rivals Coventry.
His club Wolves are willing to loan Vokes out and he was loosely linked to the Bluebirds last week but a few days later City boss said there was no cash to bring in any new loan players. Coventry has been long term favourites to sign the player with terms agreed between the two clubs but yet to be finalised. It was also reported that Wolves wanted a high loan fee for the Welsh international.
Cardiff are in need of move forward options even when Ross McCormack and Kelvin Etuhu are fit again, but I think Vokes could be too rich for City it would be nice to be proved wrong mind you.
While on the loan front I think Chairman Peter Ridsdale will have to loosen the purse strings a bit as the team are woefully short on number with too many untried players at Championship level or above.
