Cardiff City midfielder Gavin Rae has had a surprise call-up for the Scotland squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Holland. The last time he played for Scotland was in April in the 2-1 victory over Iceland he came off the bench minutes before the final whistle.
Rae has made an impressive start to the season since coming on for Joe Ledley in the first game of the season against Scunthorpe and has scored two goals of far. He said last week "The manager spoke to me before the current squad was announced and explained I wouldn't be included," he said last week. "Hopefully, I am still in his thoughts for future squads and the key is to play well for Cardiff. It was great that George Burley took time to give me a call."
