The Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale is on an expedition to find money and backers in the Far East, Malaysia. He is hoping secure monies for the naming rights of the stadium and possible shirt sponsorship which will give the club a welcome injection of cash.The trip is rumoured to have come about after the son of an Malaysia businessman was given a tour of the new stadium and was impressed with the facilities went back home a told his father who was interested enough to contact the club.
The South Wales Echo is reporting along with club director Alan Whiteley flew out of the UK on Sunday for a series of meets with Malaysian businessmen and will return for the Scunthorpe game. There is no plan takeover talks involved, so no multi-million buy-outs for the City, the club are simply seeking to tie up sponsorship deals. Ridsdale is also looking for a marketing partner to open Cardiff City academies across Asia in the Manchester United/Liverpool/Chelsea and Arsenal dominated territory.
It’s been revealed that the club look to tie up the shirt sponsorship this week as the club have three interested parties’ line-up two Cardiff based and one from the Far East.
