After a sevenside on Sunday we have another tonight with the Rovers side of Bristol paying a visit to the Cardiff City Stadium for this second round Carling Cup game. The last time these two clubs face one another was back in season 2000/01 in the FA Cup and the Bluebirds had a 5-1 victory to celebrate.
City boss Dave Jones is left to ponder his squad for tonight new signing striker Kelvin Etuhu is likely to get a start has Jones could well give leading goal scorer Michael Chopra a rest for tonight along with a number of other player nursing slight knocks from the victory over Bristol City on Sunday. Cardiff will give late checks to Anthony Gerrard, Jay Bothroyd, Peter Whittingham, Chris Burke and Paul Quinn before naming his team for tonight.
On the upside Tony Capaldi is back in contention after servicing a one match being for being sent-off against Plymouth. Mark Kennedy is back after a thigh injury having only played in the opening game of the season and Riccy Scimeca is yet to play a game of far this season. Stephen McPhail will also be hoping to be involved in the Rovers game after making a returned to the bench against Bristol City following a hamstring injury.
Fourth place Division One club Bristol Rovers come to the Cardiff City Stadium off the back of four straight wins including a victory over Aldershot in the first round of the Carling Cup.
Should Cardiff progress into the 3rd round the draw will take place on Saturday 29th at 12:15pm on Sky Sports news
