Saturday morning settling down to watch SoccerAM but there is something missing, football there is no City game the first of many Sunday games I bet. There should be a law Saturday afternoon 3pm is football time and it takes priority over all else.
Well it is the Sevenside derby as Bristol City visit the new Cardiff City Stadium the police must have thought if we moved the game to Sunday, hooligans do not like fighting on a Sunday. But the game is a ‘bubble’ means official transport only from Bristol to the stadium with no chance to mixing with the locals.
However the moving of the game was anything to do with the naughty boys and nothing to do with Sky Sports who are showing the game live tomorrow. Football in general is suffering from Sky Sports live games at the weekend, the normal football line up for game over the weekend are, Friday night game with two games on a Saturday one at 12:45pm, 5:25pm and two on Sunday around 1pm and the other a 4pm and a Monday night game. The BBC and ESPN are in the live game business to on a much smaller scale but all ads to the demise of Saturday 3pm kick-off.
It was just lucky for them as they had a spot for a Championship game and the Cardiff game fell into their lap. No the game was rescheduled because some paddy band are in town.
They are expecting 70,000 suckers through the gate at The Millennium Stadium for a U2 gig so town will be fuller than usual so the police said they cannot police the two events. I cannot see why both could not happen the City game could have kick-off earlier Bono do not hit the stage until after 9pm this will not be the first time this season is will happen we have the egg chasing coming up later in the year.
