The Cardiff boss Dave Jones hopes to strengthen his squad this week has the transfer window is on a countdown to closing, the local media are reporting there could well be a new face in time the for next league game at Doncaster on Saturday at least.
Jones added one new face on Saturday when he signed Kelvin Etuhu on a season long loan from Manchester City. He made a brief appearance against British City Sunday coming on for Michael Chropa but he had little on field time to make a judgement on the winger/striker. He could get more of a run-out Wednesday in the Carling Cup game Wednesday against Bristol Rovers depending who Dave Jones plays the game, will he be put out a full strengthen team. Jones said about his new signing “Kelvin is a big asset. He is big, strong and has played at the highest level. He played for Manchester City against Barcelona last week.
“We’ve picked up a quality player. I didn’t think we had a cat in hell’s chance of getting him. I believed Wolves or Portsmouth would sign him, but for some reason they could not sort out contractual problems and we kept our nerve. We were able to move in quickly and sign him.
“He has pace, power, he can finish and can play anywhere across the front line.”
Dave Jones again took the chance to remind Chairman Peter Ridsdale by saying in his after match that he is still short on bodies in his squad, he told the South Wales Echo, “By the end of the week we will have one or two more in.
“I will keep hounding the chairman to strengthen the squad and we are close to adding to the squad.”
