Carling Cup third round draw

Cardiff City was the last ball out of the bag in today’s Carling Cup draw and will be facing a tough away trip to Premiership club Aston Villa. The game should be played on Tuesday 22nd or Wednesday 23rd of September.

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has three ex-Villa players Peter Whittingham, Riccy Scimeca and Peter Enckelman. The last time the two clubs played each other was way back in 1974/75 in the old division two and in a Cup game you have to go back to 1948/49 in a 2-1 victory in the FA Cup. They have never met in the Carling Cup/League Cup before.
