Cardiff only injury worries after the Valencia game on Saturday were Joe Ledley and Jay Bothroyd the rest of the player came through okay but for the 2-0 defeat.
Bothroyd was taken off after just 22 minutes as a precaution after a clash left him with a limp and with the new season starting next weekend it was thought better to bring him off. Dave Jones expects Bothroyd to be ready for league kick-off next weekend.
The only other worry was Joe Ledley who was captain a surprise to many Cardiff City fans, it was being telegraph days before that he would like lose the captains armband with speculation it would go to new signing Mark Hudson. Ledley had a good game even with all the pressures riding on him over transfer rumours but like with Bothroyd the Cardiff bench played safe and brought him off with minutes to go in the game. He went off with an ankle injury and from the look on the face it was painful but Jones expects him to be fit for the opening league fixture of the Championship, roll on Scunthorpe United Saturday.
Jones confirmed "Jay has tweaked his knee and we'll keep an eye on that this week.
"And in Joe's case we just brought him off as a precaution. I don't know how it is, we just got him off as it is pointless leaving him on when there's only a few minutes to go."
As well as the Bluebirds losing someone else was a loser striker Ross McCormack who has spent the last week entangled in transfer twitter of one kind or another. Cardiff were gifted a penalty and up stepped McCormack the official penalty taker he proceeded to hit a weak shot which the keeper had little trouble with.
Dave Jones didn’t seem happy with McCormack in a after match interview SEE INTERVIEW and the outcome is Dave Jones is looking for a new official penalty taker. McCormack has now missed three on the trot could the one yesterday, he missed two at the end of last season against Preston and Ipswich anyone of which would have fired us into the Play-off back in May.
