Rumour has it Motherwell striker Chris Porter signed for Derby because it was close to Scotland and his wife who has no plans to leave her job. It’s unsure if the offer from Derby was better than the one put together by Cardiff.
It doesn’t say much about his ambitious joining a club in relegation trouble when he could have joined a club who have been in and around a play-off position all season.
Even his old boss Mark McGhee last told Chris Porter: “You got it wrong.”
“I spoke to Chris yesterday and gave him my view what he should do and why.
“I told him that he should join Cardiff City over Derby.”
Porter said, “I can only give him my experience, but it is not a football decision. The final decision was with the player.”
